Austin, Texas (PRWEB) December 11, 2012

When the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition – Zdroj Family Show aired on December 3, 2012, it marked the completion of a year-long award-winning project for Caver Public Relations and Oliver Marketing Group.

In recognition of their work on behalf of EFC Custom Homes and the builder?s efforts to provide the victims of last year?s Bastrop County wildfire a new Extreme Makeover: Home Edition home, Caver Public Relations and Oliver Marketing Group were recognized with both Bronze and Silver Quill Awards from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

The project began in November 2011 after the owners of EFC Custom Homes agreed to be the sponsoring contractor for an episode of the hit ABC TV reality show. One of the first support systems that Extreme Makeover: Home Edition requested the builder to secure was PR and Communication support. EFC owner Eric Christophe reached out to Caver Public Relations to provide this support.

But Caver PR along with partner Oliver Marketing Group quickly recognized an even greater opportunity for the quiet home builder that was simply looking to help rebuild it?s own devastated community.

?One of our specialties is helping our clients utilize public relations events to drive their brand and business goals,? said Bonnie Caver, President of Caver Public Relations. ?For a builder like EFC Custom Homes, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to drive brand reputation so making sure the company was prepared to capitalize on the opportunity was key.?

Caver PR and Oliver Marketing Group gave the small builder a complete image makeover of its own with a new logo, an overhaul of its website and new, targeted messaging, media training and speaking prep all with less than a month runway before the build, which began on Dec. 7, 2011.

?As a fan of the show for many years, I had to say ?yes? when EFC came asking for our help,? said Ivy Oliver, founder of Oliver Marketing Group. ?While Eric and Herman Christophe were focusing on the effort to begin rebuilding their community, we were focused on making sure the company gained exposure and lasting brand recognition for their huge hearts.?

To help drive the communication in the rural community, the marketing and communications duo also established an online social network for the builder to both recruit more than 3,000 volunteers and keep them informed on the extremely crunched and rapidly shifting schedule of building, designing and furnishing a home in 7 days. Through Facebook and a blog, a community was created that was active and engaged from the build through the show airing a year later.

And while the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition show helps a truly deserving family, this singular build was a far cry from what was needed all across the devastated area. Thus, Caver PR and Oliver Marketing Group helped EFC meet their community goals through the Rebuild Bastrop County campaign. With sponsorships and t-shirt sales, the campaign raised more than $ 12,000 for Habitat for Humanity during the build week so that the Extreme home would be just the first of many homes to be rebuilt for families in need in Bastrop County.

?What Caver Public Relations and Oliver Marketing Group did for us with respect to the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition build was nothing short of an ?extreme makeover? in its own right,? said Eric Christophe. ?Doing the Extreme Makeover build required a degree of nimbleness that seemed to come so naturally to these guys. They were able to help us anticipate what was around each new bend in the road. I don?t know what our ride though the Extreme Makeover build would have been like without these guys helping us to navigate our way through it, but I am confident it would have been no where near as smooth.?
